Youth...because the FATHER Cares!!
S.O.N.S. Is Making a Difference for Port
Huron's Youth
The S.O.N.S.
(Save Our Neighborhoods & Streets) Ministry is a community
organization dedicated to providing safe haven and positive activities
for "at risk" youth, helping keep them off the streets and out
of trouble. More importantly,
S.O.N.S. provides something more
substantial for these youths — spiritual guidance.
Among their many programs
are Manhood I & II (Mentoring for young men),
Breakfast Club, Life Skills Classes, Basketball
Leagues, Hook A Kid on Golf, Cub Scouts, Y.E.S.
After-School Program, "Sistahs" (mentoring middle school girls), Summer
Dream Camp, Day Treatment, Night Watch, Performing Arts and your
intervention at the Juvenile Detention Center in Port Huron.
S.O.N.S. works
cooperatively with the Port Huron Area School District, using school
facilities and collaborating with their after-school programs.
S.O.N.S. also continues to add
quality staff and training, enabling programs to grow in number and in
depth.
"I
want to eliminate the excuse at-risk kids often use: 'No one took
time for me' "
